The Vulcan has a clear tube with a black piston that goes up and down in it. It is known as the power piston and drives the Stirling engine. The tube is made from glass. Normally it won't come out but in the event something has happen and it has come out this is how to refit.

You will need

* pair of cloth gloves or or something like an old unwanted t-shirt or cotton sheet.

* a rubber band

* some water

* some washing up liquid.

Firstly prepare a small amount of soapy water by adding a few drops of washing up liquid to small amount of water.

Dip you finger into the soapy water and then run your finger around the rim/bottom of the glass. Try not to get any on the black piston. You can position the crank so the piston is high as possible.

Dry your finger. Place a rubber band around the glass cylinder. You need to remove the rubber band afterwards so just fold it around half of the cylinder.  It is only used to get extra grip.

The cylinder is glass and it can break. If this happens you may cut yourself. So use an old t-shirt or cotton sheet to hold over the glass and rubber band. If you have cloth gloves  you can use those.

Grip the glass quiet tight and push down vertical with a rotating action. It must be rotated as it is pushed down.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that the glass it vertical to the engine as you do this. If it is tilted at an angle the glass with be scored and it will break.

Twist and push down until the bottom of the glass can go any further.

If you do break the glass we can provide spares.
